weekend endings: a birthday surprise

My favorite baker cousin just had a birthday late last week.  Her brother was such a sweetheart and planned a girls night out in LA this past weekend.  We had the luxury of a limo picking us up and driving us to surprise my cousin at her house.  Soon after the driver took us to our first stop Fig & Olive, where we spent hours sipping on lemonades, cocktails, and indulging in our late supper.  My initial plan was to take her to Sweet Lady Jane's for birthday cake and dessert as the Limo driver pulled up, the line was out the door (it was a small cottage bake shop).  Second choice was to just to have desserts, and tea at urth.  It all worked out, as we made our own dessert sampler ;)

*Apple Crumb with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

*5 Layer Cake

& *a cake called Latte

I couldn't even tell you which one was my favorite- all of them were delightful!  I paired the sweets with my easy go-to *tea lattes.  This time I chose an english breakfast tea latte with an almond biscotti. All was bliss!  Hope you had a great weekend as well! XO
